St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College (SJTC) welcomes you to our website. I am happy to greet you through this medium, and it is my hope that you will be inspired to maximize your learning about our college and that it will provide you with a potential career choice with a difference. It is my distinct pleasure to congratulate St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College on its 125th anniversary. As the celebration of this auspicious milestone commences, I hail the efforts of the visionary Franciscan Sisters who answered God’s call to establish a college to train teachers. Since its inception in 1897, the College has been a beacon of hope, inspiration, and leadership to thousands of men and women, who completed Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor of Education programmes.
I also salute the guardians of St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College – the keen Boards of Directors, the devoted principals, the passionate staffs, the enthusiastic students and the dependable stakeholders, both past and present. Such sterling service to education and Jamaica, would be impossible without these remarkable partnerships.
The College remains committed to providing quality education through increased triangulation of teaching, research, and community engagement, especially in these rapidly changing times. Resultantly, since 2018, the programme offerings were expanded to include Associate Degree programmes in various field such as Business Administration and the Performing Arts and a Bachelor of Education programmes in secondary Mathematics and Science. Planning for the evolving demands of 21st century education places the College on the cusp of new possibilities such as innovation and development, which the College is poised to realise, given improved capacities. On behalf of the St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College family, I am delighted to welcome you to a celebration of 125 years of quality service to education. I hope that you will be encouraged to learn more about our amazing past, dynamic present days and our opportune future. With God’s Grace, I keenly look forward to witnessing continuous achievements of the College beyond this 125th year.
